It was a beautiful, hot day on the course for the 7Th Annual TMX Charity Golf Classic. The tournament teed off at the UBC Golf Course and included a fun Texas scramble style of golf along with lunch, dinner and prize giveaways. For the fourth year in a row, Cerebral Palsy Association of British Columbia was one of the charities chosen to receive part of the proceeds.
Kicking it off on the right note: awareness speeches on CP and pre-game massages!
This year, members of CPABC staff engaged the golfers at the 10th hole in trivia and awareness speeches about cerebral palsy and what our association does. While some golfers knew someone with CP, others learned new facts about CP. Overall, every interaction with the participants was educational and positive! Our association also provided free pre-game massages for the golfers courtesy of certified bodyworker, Alayna Dan.
During the past three years, the generous contributions of TMX have supported new programs and helped expand existing ones.
- The Youth Without Limits program in Vancouver allows teens and young adults with cerebral palsy and other disabilities to connect, socialize and support one another.
- Participants in our adapted martial arts program in Richmond increase coordination, balance and overall strength.
- We also expanded our successful adapted yoga and dance programs for youth and children to Victoria and Kelowna. Members of CPABC across the province can enjoy fun, physical activities.
Our mission is to create a Life Without Limits for people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities in BC. Funds raised this year will further support the free programs and services we offer to people living with cerebral palsy and other disabilities.
We would like to thank TMX and all of the businesses that participated in the golf tournament for choosing to work with us to make this goal possible. We will see you next year on the green!
