Re: Sheldon v. Uber Canada Inc. et al
B.C. Human Rights Tribunal No. CS-011731
Slater Vecchio LLP would like to inform you of the filing of a class action in the Human
Rights Tribunal. The action is filed on behalf of individuals with disabilities across British
Columbia who have been unable to use Uber and Lyft services due to the lack of
wheelchair accessible services across the province. Slater Vecchio has submitted this class
action after the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal recently awarded $35,000 to a complainant for
their failure to provide wheelchair accessible services through their applications.
Our goal with this action is to force Uber and Lyft to enact wheelchair accessible services
across the province, while attempting to obtain compensation for those that have been
denied service in the past.
We invite you to share this filing with your members and please encourage anyone
personally affected to reach out to us directly through our website
https://www.slatervecchio.com/class-action/uber-accessible-services-class-action/ and our
team will contact them.
For your reference, we have enclosed a copy of the filing and a recent CTV news release
on the case can be found at https://bc.ctvnews.ca/systemic-issue-class-action-filed-against-
uber-lyft-alleges-lack-of-accessibility-in-b-c-1.6817672. Please let us know if you have any
questions regarding this matter.
Yours truly,
